Heathrow Animal Reception Centre:
Policies and advice re bringing an ME dog into the U.K.
JANET CRUICKSHANK·WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2018

In case this info is helpful to anyone flying into the U.K. with a mega E dog, this is an email reply I’ve just received from the Heathrow Animal Reception Center…..

Good afternoon.

Thank you for your enquiry regarding flying into the UK with Winston. It is a requirement of IATA that all pets travel with a water pot and therefore one must be attached to Winston’s kennel, however we would recommend that you place clear notes on the box stating that he must not be given food or water either during the flight or on arrival at LHR and the importance of why. We would also recommend that you speak to the vets that work here at the airport to arrange them to be on standby to check him over once he has arrived. The vets details are Heathrow Vet Services telephone number 0044 2036914622. There would be an additional charge for the vet to come out for a health check, this would depend on the time but would be around £64 between 09:00-17:00 or £120 after 17:00.

With regards to him being fed and offered water here, we can wait until you arrive with his special food. Again please ensure that it is clearly noted on his box that he is not to be fed and watered on arrival. You can complete one of our pet information sheets with all his medical information on, this can be found on our website http://www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/harc

We would also recommend that you send us Winston’s pets paperwork once it has been completed so we can pre-check it prior to your arrival, when you send this please include his medical information again so we can include it in his file.

Kind regards
